Year 7
Aims:
To build on students’ scientific knowledge and understanding in different areas of science. To promote an understanding of the advantages and drawbacks of scientific and technological developments on the environment and on society.
Topics:
Cells, acids, forces, reproduction, particles, electricity, reproduction, infection and response, ecology, inheritance and selection and energy.
Possible homework tasks and useful sites:
Making models of cells etc. Key word spellings, BBC Bitesize Key Stage 3.

Year 8
Aims:
To build on students’ scientific knowledge and understanding in different areas of science. To promote an understanding of the advantages and drawbacks of scientific and technological. Developments on the environment and on society.
Topics:
Atoms and elements, sound, digestive system, combustion, metals, heating and cooling, light, respiration and plants.
Possible homework tasks and useful sites:. Key word spellingsBBC Bitesize Key Stage 3.

GCSE Qualifications
Aims:
GCSE study in the sciences provides the foundations for understanding the material world. Science is changing our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity.These essential aspects should be studied in ways that help students to develop curiosity about the natural world, insight into how science works, and appreciation of its relevance to their everyday lives. “    – Department of Education

Triple Science: This course prepares students for possible progression to post-16 science providing a deeper understanding of the subject. Accreditation is 3 GCSEs in Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Double Science: available to some students on the endeavour pathway (please see out Curriculum page for more information on pathways). This course explores the awe and wonder of science, especially through purposeful practical activities. It covers the 3 disciplines of science: biology, chemistry and physics. Accreditation is 2 GCSEs in Science.

Year 9
Topics:
Cells, Organisations, Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table, Chemistry of the Atmosphere, Particle Model of  Matter and Magnets

Year 10
Topics:
Infections , Bioenergenetics , Chemistry of the Atmosphere, Organic Chemistry, Rate and Extent of Chemical Change, Energy, Magnets and Waves

Year 11
Topics:
