Our Year 11 Team Leader, Mr Allan, would like to thank parents for their ongoing support at this very busy time for Year 11 students, saying that from the atmosphere in lessons and around school that the students are all taking their preparation for exams seriously. Mr Allan is also incredibly impressed by the high levels of punctuality and attendance which has been shown this last half term.
With the Easter holidays coming up, Year 11 students should already know that it is a critical time for the bulk of revision, and all should have completed their revision timetable in preparation.
For students who have ordered leavers’ hoodies, these will be available to collect from the school office from the beginning of May. They may be worn around school in place of the usual school jumper from this date.
Friday 22nd May is the date when Year 11 officially begin their study leave. On this day, students are encouraged to attend school in business dress to celebrate their progression into the world of work or further education. Records of Achievement will be presented and photographs shown as a celebration of students’ five years at Huntcliff School. Parents have been invited via a letter sent out today, with a reply slip regarding their attendance.
After this time there are opportunities for students to attend structured revision sessions with their usual classroom teachers (as per the revision guide). It is essential that students attending these sessions sign in and out at the front of school and continue to comply with all school rules relating to uniform, mobile phones and expectations of behaviour. Students are expected to attend all exams in full school uniform and are reminded that it can, on occasions be a little chilly in the sports hall first thing, they should therefore ensure that they bring their school sweatshirt. Students who attend these sessions must leave the school site directly afterwards or revise quietly in the supervised study room.
Students have already received a letter from Redcar and Cleveland College and Prior Pursglove College informing them about an exciting opportunity to visit either of the colleges from 22nd to 26th June. The Preview Week will help students to make an informed choice about where to continue their studies in September.
GCSE Results Day will be on Thursday 20th August. If students are unavailable to collect their results on this day, then if they wish they can be posted to them if they leave an A4 stamped addressed envelope with Ms Beckham beforehand.
A reminder that the Year 11 prom takes place on Thursday 25th June. Places have already been booked for this and seating plans are being completed by the prom committee.
