SABIC Future Innovators Project
SABIC is helping to launch an exciting science project to students!
Students from each KS3 year group have been invited to take part, plus KS4 who will act as mentors, by submitting an application describing why they would like to be involved.
Each experiment the students will do will consist of 3 sessions. Week 1 will be the introduction, giving students an idea of what they’re going to be looking for. At the end, they will be allowed to look at their experiments and draw up a rough experiment plan. Week 2 will see the students actually carry out their experiments, and week 3 will see the reporting and writing up of the experiments.
The project will start during the week of 16th Oct, followed by two weeks after the holidays to finish the first experiment; with hopefully another before Christmas.
The final experiment includes a bus tour of both the Olefins complex in Redcar, and the cryogenic tank at NT in the new year, after which time an official presentation will take place at SABIC to end the project. SABIC will present prizes for each group, and for each experiment along the way, with recognition of the most engaged and proactive students who are working together.
Hallam Wheatley, our enterprise link and former student, will work with our science department and the students to produce risk assessments for their experiments..
We look forward to this project and hope that students really enjoy such a brilliant opportunity.
