The seeds are back on Earth!
At 04:26am on Tuesday 2nd March, Commander Scott Kelly of NASA and Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov of Roscosmos landed safely back on Earth in Kazakhstan. The seeds that we’ll be growing then travelled with Scott Kelly to NASA in Houston on a charter flight from Moscow, Russia and returned to the UK on Thursday. RHS are now getting ready to pack them up so they can be sent to us with our Rocket Science experiment pack next month (either 12th or 13th April).
We’re now making sure that all the equipment is ready (including compost, milk bottles and seed trays). When the seeds arrive, we’ll sow them a week later – this is important as it ensures we can finish the experiment before we break up for half term. We will take measurements on days 10, 17, 21, 28 and 35.
