This week, campus learners went to Prior Pursglove College to make bunting for the Thrift Festival using oddments of material or material that nobody wanted anymore. They had also been asked to take any clothes that they didn’t require that they could cut up & use. An artist had been commissioned to decorate a wall at the festival. She had already cut out the triangles for the bunting, and the children decorated the, using the material. They planned their bunting first by choosing the material/colours & arranging it. They pinned it on, then when they were happy sewed it on with a sewing machine.
There were 7 year 5 pupils, 5 year 8 students, and A Level students from the college.
The young people really enjoyed it as they all got the chance to work with children of different ages, and primary children got the chance to use sewing machines which they hadn’t had the chance to use before.
They thoroughly enjoyed their day with Mrs Donaldson from the primary school and Librarian, Miss Cumming.
